"Redemption - A 21st Century Analogy"
INTRODUCTION
The story of Redemption is an old one, but its message may be lost or undiscernible to a 21st-Century audience. During his earthly ministry, Jesus often spoke to the common people in parables, simple stories used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson. The Holy Spirit has inspired me to write a modern day parable regarding Redemption that today's audiences may be able to better understand.
PARABLE OF THE COMPUTER
There was once a Computer Operator who created a Computer Program. The Computer Operator loved the Computer Program so much he wanted it to reside in his Computer forever. However, this Computer Program was corrupted shortly after it was created by a Computer Virus that had been created by a Computer Hacker. The corrupted Computer Program was not able to be uploaded to the Computer by the Computer Operator because it would corrupt the Computer as well. The Computer Operator then had to send his Anti-Virus Program to disrupt the work of the Computer Hacker. The Anti-Virus Program also contained a Computer Patch to repair the damage the Computer Virus had caused so the Computer Program could be uploaded onto the Computer by the Computer Operator.
MEANING OF THE PARABLE
The Computer Operator is God who created the Computer Program who is Man. God loved Man so much he wanted Man to reside forever with him in his Computer, which is Heaven. However, a Computer Virus called Sin corrupted Man shortly after he was created. God was not able to let Man into Heaven because if he did, Sin would corrupt Heaven as well. To rectify this problem, God sent his Anti-Virus Program, called Jesus, to disrupt the work of the Computer Hacker, who was called Satan. Jesus also contained a Computer Patch, called the Blood of Jesus, to repair the damage caused by Sin. Once the Blood of Jesus had fixed the Sin problem, God was able to let Man into Heaven where they could live together forever.
